The Peatland‘s Tale

Lara, Germany

Peatlands, often referred to as "peat bogs" or "mires," are unique wetland ecosystems formed over thousands of years. They play a crucial role in regulating global climate by storing vast amounts of carbon dioxide. Protecting and restoring peatlands is essential for mitigating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and maintaining water quality. With this bead design I want to spread awareness for these often forgotten and destroyed ecosystems. My design comprises some of the unique plants commonly found in peatland areas. The silver plants are entangled on a radiant bead of dark amber, reflecting the brown peat soil.

The Designer

Lara, Germany

With a passion for both my job as a geoscientist and my hobby of making art, I draw inspiration from the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the beauty of the natural world. Through my art, I want to show how important it is to take care of the environment. My goal is to ignite a sense of admiration for the Earth and motivate others to take action towards preserving it for future generations.
