My design was inspired by a once-in-a-lifetime experience I had as a passionate scuba diver: ethically encountering a whale shark in the wild. Seeing one glide through the ocean was breathtaking. Their immense size contrasts beautifully with their gentle presence, and their unique white-spotted patterns look like moving galaxies—almost like a living Milky Way beneath the surface. Encounters like this are exceptionally rare; it’s estimated that far less than 1% of the world’s population will ever see a whale shark in its natural habitat.
Beyond their beauty, whale sharks symbolize something deeply meaningful to me. They rely on obligate ram ventilation, meaning they must keep swimming to breathe. If they stop moving, they stop receiving oxygen. They move—or they die. That biological truth feels like a powerful metaphor for life. No matter the setbacks, disappointments, or bad news we face, we cannot afford to remain stuck. We have to keep moving forward. My two whale sharks swimming together represent resilience, quiet strength, and the courage to keep going—always.
